Stay safe, grow strong: reclaiming life following domestic violence

Support group for women

At Lifeline Northern Beaches, we are offer a support group dedicated to empowering participants to create a positive future, and creating a safe place to share experiences and coping strategies.

 

This group is for women who have experienced family and relationship violence.

 

This support group aims to bring together women who have left an abusive, controlling and/or sometimes (but not always) violent relationship.

The group covers:

 

  • Defining abuse and understanding the patterns of abuse
    • Psycho-education on the cycle of violence
    • The impact of DV on you
  • Exploring myths
    • “How did I get here?”
    • Relationship warning signs
  • Impact on children
    • Understanding the issues and needs of children
  • Grief and loss
    • How you might feel after you leave an abusive relationship
    • Exploring the emotional roller coaster
  • Boundaries
  • Co-parenting
  • Future strategies for self care and developing relationships

If you are interested in taking part we would love to hear from you. If there aren’t enough people to run a group at the time you need, we also offer face-to-face counselling as an alternative.

When: Thursdays 10:00am – 12:00pm (Dates to be advised)
Where: Location confirmed with you after sign up
Duration: 6 Weeks (Booking Essential)
Cost: Free (funded by the Rotary Club of Balgowlah)
