Problem gambling support group
Gambling is a popular pastime in Australia, however sometimes it can get out of hand and become a cause for distress and financial hardship.
It can be hard to know if your gambling is getting out of control. A common reaction is to minimise, hide or deny gambling problems and the harm it could be causing. Some people will lie to themselves and others about how much money or time is being spent on gambling.
The good news is there is help available. Lifeline Northern Beaches provides a support group service for problem gamblers.
How do you know if you need support?
Do you:
- Gamble more money than you can afford to lose?
- Spend more money or time gambling than you intend to?
- Try to win back the money you have lost?
- Feel that gambling is controlling your life?
- Want to stop or take control of your gambling?
How our support group works
Through our problem gambling support group, you can understand your gambling, and learn techniques to reduce your desire to gamble. We cover topics including:
- Taking back control of your finances
- Anger, guilt, or shame
- Physical and emotional reactions
- Recovery
- Lessons learned
When: Thursdays 5pm to 7pm (Dates to be advised)
Where: Lifeline Northern Beaches, 310 Sydney Rd, Balgowlah NSW 2093
Duration: 8 weeks (Booking Essential)
Cost: $15/session (but if you are unable to pay just let us know)
